Working with Stretch Fabric

These Master Patterns are created to work with woven fabric that does not stretch. Darts are used to change this two-dimensional fabric to the three-dimensional shape of the body. Knit fabric stretches so when it is pulled against a three-dimensional shape it can become three-dimensional.

This video shows how to change the Master Patterns for woven material to Master Patterns that can be used with knits. This Master Pattern for knits can be changed depending on the amount and direction of stretch as was done for the athletic bra described in the Adding Ease for Knits.
