Line Appearance includes Color, Type, and Size. Color is important because it can be used to specify which lines are to be printed, cut, or ignored (see Custom Colors). For these videos three Line Types are used to define patterns: solid for cut lines, dotted for reference lines, and dashes for sewing lines.

The default Line Size is 0.00 pt. When you use a desktop printer to print your patterns, lines that are 0.00 pt will be ignored. Fortunately when you select the print function, this appears in a preview screen. Line Size needs to be set larger than 0:00 pt for the patterns to be printed. For these videos an even larger Line Size is used so that the lines will be easy to see.

The controls color, type, and size are always visible in the top left corner of the working area. If you set the values when no lines are selected, they will apply to all subsequent lines drawn. If you have lines selected, only the selected lines will be changed. For the next line drawn, the controls will revert to the previous setting. You can deselect all lines by pressing the Esc key or click the blue Pointer then somewhere else on the screen.

A convenient feature is the ability to select lines for editing using the Select-by-Color function.
