There are three basic types of lines used to create patterns: straight, curved, and arcs. Before you select a type of line, first verify the Line Appearances are set to the desired color, style, and size. Then select a line type by clicking on the icon at the top left of the working area and click on the desired type of line.

Once you have selected a line type, you can draw multiple versions. To change from one type of line to another, click on the Select icon. To discontinue drawing lines, press the Esc key.

These videos use the PGM Master Pattern created during the Selecting Lines and Points videos.

Straight Lines

Vertical and horizontal lines are always used for the Center Front, Center Back, and Waistlines. It can be helpful to have the junction of these lines aligned to the Grid using the "Snap to Grid" function.

Another align function that is useful is the ability to center one line in the middle of another. This is very handy for creating sewing notches.

Curved Lines

Curved Lines are made by clicking the left mouse button, moving to the next point of the curve and clicking the button again. To stop drawing a curve, double click at the last point. Curves can be adjusted using the Edit Point tool.

Arcs

Arcs can be used to add decorative details to a design such as scalloped hems. They are also very useful for determined the angle of darts which comes in handy for changing dart locations.
