Being able to view a closeup of specific areas of a pattern makes adjustments much easier and more accurate. The In and Out Zoom functions are common in a lot of programs. The Select Zoom is done by holding the left mouse button down while dragging a rectangle around the area to be viewed. The Scroll Zoom is done by holding down the left mouse button and moving the mouse up and down in the work area to change the Zoom size. The Pan moves the pattern without changing the Zoom size.

Zoom Menu

The Zoom Menu allows the working area to be changed by a specific percentage. The 25%, 100%, and 400% sizes can be useful when working with patterns. However the percentages may not reflect the size of the monitor of your computer. To verify the accuracy of the size, the Zoom needs to be adjusted.

  1. Draw a rectangle of specific dimensions.
  2. Hold a ruler up to the computer monitor.
  3. Use the Zoom Scroll function to change the size until the dimensions of the rectangle match the dimensions on the ruler.

Once the changes have been made it is convenient to be able to restore the screen so it shows the full mat.
