Computer Aided Pattern Design
by Don McCunn Changing DimensionsDimensions of a line or group of lines can be changed by specifying either the width or height. Caveat: When you select a line or Group of lines, verify that the width and height values shown on the line(s) in the Mat agree with the values shown in the "W" and "H" boxes. There is a glitch in the program that sometimes causes the two sets of values to be different. When this happens, click the Lock icon a couple of times until the values are the same. The Lock/Unlock option is very important to understand. When the Lock is closed, the line(s) are changed proportionately. For example, a 1" square can be changed to a 2" square by entering 2 into either the "W" or "H" box. When the Lock is open the width and height can be changed independently. For example, a 1" square can be changed to a 1" by 2" rectangle by entering 2 in the "H" box. Caveat: When you are changing the length of an individual line, the Lock should be open. There are two options for changing the dimensions of a line or group of lines. When a line is selected, the option to change the dimensions appears at the top of the working area as shown above. This option does not appear when the Studio screen is reduced for working in a split screen. The other uses a menu option to open the Transform Panel on the right side of the working area. This panel stays visible until the "X" is used to close it or another Panel replaces it. |
