Align

Use the blue "A" icon on the left side of the working area to enter text, the Typeface & Point Size, Style, and Alignment options appear at the top of the working area. The Defaults are those specified during the Program Setup. Clicking the Align icon provides drop down options to align text: left, center, right, or justified. Once you make a selection of the alignment, these options disappear.

Text is reproduced differently for desk top printers and Silhouette print-and-cut equipment. This is because Studio is designed as a graphics program that can be used with both types of printers. It uses desktop printers for full color graphics that fill the outline of the text. The print-and-cut equipment only sketches the outline of the text in the color of whatever pen is inserted in the equipment.

Text for Desktop Printers
For the outline of the text to appear, the Line Size must be greater than 0.00 pts. If the Line Size is 0.00 pts and there is no FIll, the text will not be printed. The Fill function can be used to add color inside the outline and the text will be printed. The colors of the outline and the fill can be different.

Text for Print-and-Cut Equipment
The outline of the text will be printed depending on the color and size of the pen inserted into the equipment. The Fill will not be printed.

Text for Pattern Labels
To print pattern labels on both a desktop printer and the print-and-cut equipment, I recommend setting the Line Size to 0.00 pts and using a black or grey Fill. The FIll drop down option displays the Custom Color Pallet in addition to the universal color pallete.

Editing Text
Existing text can be edited for both content and appearance by first selecting the "A" icon then double clicking on the text to be changed.

The Text Style Panel on the right side of the working area provides a lot of options for controlling the appearance of text. But for CAPD these embelishments are not necessary so they are not described here.
