Importing DXF Files

DXF files are an industry standard file format for CAD programs. This means you can load a file created by another program into the Studio software. The patterns in all my books were created using a different CAD program from Studio.

When these DXF files are loaded into Studio, you will see that the color of the lines appear, but the style of the lines are only seen as solid lines. The other CAD software uses dotted lines for reference and dashes for seam allowances for my books. But these line styles are not recorded in the DXF file and need to be reset for the Studio format.

When one of these DXF files is loaded, all the lines need to be Grouped together then adjusted to the dimensions specified for the Bounding Box.

There is another CAD industry standard that uses the SVG extension. This stands for "Scalable Vector Graphics." The Business Upgrade of the Studio software can both import and export patterns in the SVG format for use with other CAD programs. The SVG format records both the color and style of lines.
