RTW Sizing

The first step in creating RTW patterns is to develop a size chart. Initially a design starts with a medium size pattern which is then sized up and down. There is no standard size for RTW patterns. The instructions here designates sizes as X-Small, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, etc.

Lindsey's Size Chart

With years of experience working with dozens of models I have a rich archive of measurement charts which I have personally developed. It is by exploring the variations of these measurement charts I gained the confidence to try my hand at discussing RTW sizing with Lindsey. This is the current size chart we are working with. The length measurement is the overrall length of the shirt.

SIZE Bust Waist Hip Shoulder Length Wrist Cuff Sleeve
X-Small 32" 26" 34" 15.5" 25" 8" 9" 25"
Small 34" 28" 36" 15.75" 25" 8" 9" 25.5"
Medium 36" 30" 38" 16" 26" 8.5" 9" 26"
Large 38" 32" 40" 16.25" 26" 8.5" 9" 26"
X-Large 40" 34" 42" 16.5" 26" 8.5" 9" 26"
2X-Large 42" 36" 44" 16.75" 26" 8.5" 9" 26"

Detailed size charts with the 32 measurements used to make Bespoke patterns for the models included in Fashion & Costume Design in Quarter Scale are available on the Size Chart page.
