Mirroring Lines

Replicate Menu: Panel ► Replicate
Menu: Object ► Replicate

Mirroring lines is an important function for pattern design. Patterns are usually designed for half the front or half the back to ensure the finished garment is symmetrical. When paper patterns are used, the front or back half is then translated to a full front or full back by placing the pattern on the fold of the fabric before it is cut. With CAPD the Replicate function copies the lines to be mirrored and flips the copy to the left, right, up, or down.

There are two menu options to select the Replicate function. The "Panel ► Replicate" menu opens the Replicate Panel. The "Object ► Replicate" menu option opens a sub menu with the four choices available: left, right, above, and below.

Another Mirror function is available using the "Object ► Mirror" menu option. This option allows lines to be flipped either horizontally or vertically.
